LISNPN – The LIS New Professionals Network
Amazing day at the CILIP New Professionals Conference 2010 in Sheffield yesterday, hopefully a more detailed and in depth blog post to follow shortly, but first a shout out to LISNPN (http://lisnpn.spruz.com/)
I actually signed up to this a while ago when it was still in its early stages primarily being used by those based in Yorkshire (yes I know I’m not at the moment but I thought I’d sneak in and join the party early!) but yesterday LISNPN recieved its national launch.
So what is LISNPN? It is basically an online hub for new information professionals with news, course information and jobs as well as a place for discussion, knowledge sharing and seeking advice. It is not affiliated with a professional body so anyone can join regardless of whether they are a member of CILIP, SLA, any other organisation or none at all. There is even a forum dedicated to graduate trainees which I am particulary interested in, as although it is too late for me I am keen to see an opportunity for graduate trainee networking on a national level. There is currently no way to find out what other trainees are working around the country apart from chance encounters and knowing the right people, so it would be awesome if LISNPN could be a way to fill this gap.
Ned Potter and Chris Rhodes launched the network at the conference with this presentation which I’ve embedded here from Slideshare.
So all that is left to do now is JOIN!

w000t! Thank you so much for publicising this!
And once again, sorry for not saying hello properly yesterday…
